So school's over. Bit of an odd feeling really. Maybe that's because it was also over several weeks ago.

So über-Tuesday welcomed me with 5 lovely exams. A morning of three in français was followed by isolation with O-J (with his phone!!), Alex Keeley and Ollie Fraser in some conference room or something in School House. Our first keeper was Mr Timuss, who asked if he could have any of our food (cf. Tom: "He's let himself go a bit, hasn't he??"), and sat with his legs across the door, presumably to stop any of us trying to escape. He was then relieved by Shrimpy, who was far more interesting, ranting ceaselessly to Alex about Margaret Thatcher, the health service and immigrants. There was a very strange moment then, when Alex interrupted one of Shrimpy's monologues to say, "I can't believe Richard Whiteley's dead!" Immediately, everyone agreed passionately, but then submitted contemplatively once more to the continuing outpour. It was quite a surreal moment of unity between the four of us. Finally Mr "I'm really cool" Yorath replaced Shrimpo, who talked about - what else? - drinking. Two chemistry exams later and I'm asleep in the car, going home.

One rushed dinner later and I'm heading back in for the chamber concert (Hal has photos here). From the very first piece, it started thundering and pouring down, making a huge noise on the roof, but I thought it made Peter's viola piece - Romance by Vaughan Williams - beautifully atmospheric. I was also amused, when the sound of a leak in the roof floated over another piece to our ears, to see Peter's head snap up, and his eyes dart around for the source. You see, Peter has been haunted by a leak in the roof by the organ throughout his time here; his "thing he'd miss about MCS" on his yearbook questionnaire was playing the organ under that leak, and his one request for something to change was "Maybe they could fix the leak???"

The whole concert was really good (hehe, Wedgie's ex on the piano), except for my playing which was quite appalling. But the funniest bit of the evening was something the master said, rather camply, to Mr Peter Smith after. I'll leave you to imagine the context: "Oh, Peter, you are modern!"
But spare a thought for Jamie Baker, who ADH apparently insulted by asking if he could find out how many hits the Conference on First Class gets, cos he didn't believe anyone ever looked at it.

The leavers' lunch was, I felt, anti-climactic, and it was a real shame they couldn't wait five minutes so that Guy could be in the photo; I really think that sucked. Après ça, and some running madly in the monsoon with O-J and Freds, I watched Batman with Liv, Zeebee and Guy (and Lunney with his bomb-ridden CCF bag). On reflection, the film was better than I thought it was immediately after, but I'm no reviewer so I'll leave it for others to describe.

Tis me done. I shall hopefully see most of ye tonight at the party!

I had a really cool day yesterday. Apart from the small matter of the morning's French exam, it was just really fun wandering round with Hal and Kieran, though admittedly this mostly consisted of going to get Kieran YET another Fillet burger or some such. Get a hold on yourself! Sorry, I just had to say that :).

And Hal, here is the link I was telling you about. Thanks James for finding it in the first place! Though I couldn't find it on the archives of Mcssucks (has anyone else reread them recently? It is a really strange feeling. Talking about our 1-month anniversary [not made up by Polly], George [the pink, gay, repressed, agoraphobic dinosaur], Polly+Tom getting married [while she still hated him], gay space teddy bear man-tits...).

Well I have some last-minute Chem revision to be doing. Ciao for now.

I just downloaded another Imogen Heap (of Frou Frou fame) song, Hide and Seek, which apparently features 3 times in the last episode of the O.C. While looking for lyrics I then stumbled on her website - she has a blog AND a Flickr account! Anyway, it seems that with the song she was just messing around with a piece of equipment that adds 4 harmonies to the notes she sings, hence the first lines of "where are we? what the hell is going on?" Interestible. Then of course there's the train that goes past at the end...

Her album comes out on my birthday, as it happens. (And no, that's not a hint!)

Speaking of birthdays,
Happy Birthday PJ!!

Ah, Cyrano. What a tricky little play you are. That's gonna take a whole new lot of looking at before I'm ready to deal with it any time soon. Damn, thought I'd looked at that quite enough...

Aynho. (On a tangential note I very nearly went there today but, alas, twas not to be. Forsooth.) On Friday I travelled to the house of the O-J (yvan eht niO-J to his friends) after watching the bus I was about to board hit the bus stop. Mmm. There followed some serious yearbookage/food-purchasing and eating, during which we, along with Rebecca and her friend Laura, discussed the upcoming double enten- er, 18th; I've been told I should do 50s with greased-back hair, leather jacket etc. We shall see.
That evening, Out of the Blue was... of mixed success. Highlights for me were She Will Be Loved, Blur, Billy Joel, Kiss From A Rose, Fat Bottomed Girls etc. and, of course, The Lion Sleeps Tonight :). Shame about Tribute, and the random OotB rap :s. I did happen to run into Alexandra, the director of In The Pink, with whom I did a duet at the Jazz Concert, with what I can only assume was her brother, as he goes to MCS in the L4th despite being taller than me. Damn him. Turns out she's going out with the dudyflavour who sang Queen. I didn't ask her for the Under the Sea music tho... must remember to next week!

Then yesterday and today I've been out and about in the loverly summer weather; two bike rides, in which I discovered an uber-cool woodland track, and that you can go under Fringford bridge and paddle up it :). In the absence of a swimming pool, it's the best I've got...

Don't work too hard!

He's alive! He's aliiiiiiive!! And by 'he' I mean the one true God, as he would have me call him: O-J. Yet I fear to say he's alive and well would be a step too far, as any mental state currently occupied by this man cannot be classified as particularly normal. Still, it's kind of a relief to know he hasn't been decomposing slowly with his nose in a medical book about embalming techniques. Though perhaps I should also be glad I didn't actually go through with the ransack-O-J's-house plan.

Well today, in the absence of Garden State, I watched Dumbo, and I would just like to point out that it is so much sadder than Cold Mountain! The scene where he goes to visit his mother... with the song... And it was weird - obviously I haven't watched it since I was really young and stupid because I heard some of the dialogue for the first time this time around. And pretty much all of the music. And noticed how amazing and cute the animation is. So...I don't really have any idea what I noticed at all the first time round! Anyway, go and watch it again.

If anyone would care to comment, I was wondering what people thought of Michael Jackson's verdict? Whether you expected it, whether he deserved it, whether it proves anything.

Anyway, I hear Finding Nemo crying out...

Your IQ score is 138
Your Intellectual Type is Visionary Philosopher. ... Like Plato, your exceptional math and verbal skills make you very adept at explaining things to others — and at anticipating and predicting patterns.

Hmm. Wouldn't've thought I'd be either Visionary or a Philosopher. Maybe I missed my calling. Well, I knew that already. sigh.
Saw Cold Mountain the other day, and I didn't think it was as sad as Kieran assured me it was. It was kind of a bit blah. Unlike in Finding Neverland, in the crucial part (for those who haven't seen it..) there is no sort of emotive device - it just happens. Nor did I really care that much! Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood, or else it's because I saw it on the small screen; but I don't mean to sound too negative though, cos it was quite a good film. Even if it did have Natalie Portman in AGAIN.

Just a final plea to anyone who wanted to go to OOTB to get back to Sam, or else discuss whether anyone wants to go to dinner with us beforehand. Danke schon.

Hmm. Today I saw a video of Michael Jackson singing The Way You Make Me Feel with Britney Spears - the dancing was crotch-grabbingly good. Then I heard a very, very strange (and quite painful) 'mash-up' called "Why does Michael hurt?" which seems to be a cross between Smooth Criminal and 'Why' by Carly Simon (the relevant lyric actually going 'Why does your love hurt so much?" [surely it'd make more sense if it was my love?]). (They have a similar/the same chord progression...)

It's been very (sort of) sunny today, which was a nice way to resign myself to doing latin revision. Then my brother later came into my room and did an Art Attack with the clothes on my floor. All in all, latin is great.

As was Sin City - that film is seriously good. Crotch-grabbingly good. Especially the first scene, though I don't get why Kieran didn't like it. I hear there's another one out next year, then one the following year too :D.

Well, pizza beckons. Continued good luck everyone.
